The object of the game is to follow a series of instructions on drawing holiday images without being able to see what you are drawing. You can play the game in two ways: by closing your eyes as you draw, or by placing a paper plate on the top of their head while attempting to draw the holiday prompts.

How to Play the Paper Plate Game

1. Grab my fun printable Christmas Drawing Cards with premade holiday drawing prompts for the game.

2. Give all players a pencil and sturdy paper plates.

3. Ask all the player to get their pencil ready and place the paper plates on top of their head.

4. The host reads the first drawing prompt, and players quickly try to draw it.

5. Keep going until you finish drawing all three prompts.

6. Rate the drawings to see who had the most complete and accurate holiday picture.

How to Play with Paper and Eyes Closed

1. Grab my printable Christmas Drawing Cards with premade printable cards of drawing ideas.

2. Give each player a pencil and paper. Optional: give everyone a sleep mask to help keep their eyes closed.

3. The host will then ask the players to close their eyes and read the first prompt.

4. Players will draw the first prompt on the paper with their eyes closed or wearing a sleep mask.

5. Continue through all three drawing prompts.

6. Rate the holiday drawings and see who drew the best picture

This game would be a big hit at a holiday classroom party, Ugly Sweater Party, or White Elephant Party.

Points for the Christmas Drawing Challenge

Here is how players will earn points for the drawing game.

10 points: The item is drawn accurately, with all required details in place (e.g., star on the tree, ornaments present, etc.).
7 points: The item is recognizable but missing a few smaller details (e.g., tree is fine, but star or ornaments are misplaced).
5 points: The item is mostly there, but missing key details or shapes (e.g., missing arms on snowman, no antlers on reindeer).
3 points: The item is hard to recognize or has important parts completely misplaced (e.g., star at the bottom of tree, snowman missing a head).
0 points: The item is completely unrecognizable or missing important parts (e.g., snowman looks like random circles).

Tip: Make sure to have a small prize for the winner.

If you don't want to make it a competition, players can play the game and just show off what they drew to friends and family.

Drawing Game Holiday Idea Prompts

The host will read the steps to create each picture in the holiday drawing. Plan to have the players draw at least 3-5 pictures or more if they are into the game. Use these prompts over and over again each year.
