Easy Homemade Pizza Recipe with Prosciutto and Pesto

Use our steps below to get started on making homemade pizza. Remember you can adjust it to your family’s taste – if you don’t like mushrooms, just don’t add them. Make it your own.

Tip- skip making your own dough.  It will save you tons of time and there are really good store-bought options out there. I really like the Trader Joe’s pizza dough if I have time to roll it out.  Otherwise, check your local grocery store for the Pillsbury Pizza Dough that you just place on the pan and cook.

Pizza Ingredients

Homemade Pizza Ingredients

Pizza Dough

1-Cup of Pesto (adjust to your taste)

1 container of mushrooms

1 onion

Low Moisture Part Skim Mozzarella Cheese Ball

10 Slices of Prosciutto (adjust depending on the size of pizza dough and taste)

Step 1

Preheat your oven according to your pizza dough instructions. While the oven heats up slice up the onions and mushrooms and sauté on low heat to caramelize. Now, this can take a while so my step to speed it up is to add some butter and cook them on medium to low heat for 5 –10 minutes.

I usually don’t have 40 minutes to caramelize the onions on low heat but if you do go ahead and do it that way.  Also, the mushrooms and onions shrink a lot when cooked so, make sure to keep this in mind when cutting them up.

Step 2

Slice up your mozzarella cheese thin.

Tip: I like to pick a low moisture part skim mozzarella cheese ball because I find the ones packed in water tend to make my pizza too wet.  You could also use shredded mozzarella cheese if you are in a hurry, it just might taste a little different.

Step 3

Layout your pizza dough on a sheet pan or pizza pan. Make sure to spray the pan with non-stick spray so that your pizza crust does not stick.

 Step 4

Now it’s time to add your toppings. Start with spreading the pesto sauce across your pizza dough. I use the Kirkland Pesto from Costco, but use any brand you like or make your own. I usually use the store-bought one over homemade because it is a big time saver.

Now layout strips of your Prosciutto across the pizza.

Spread the mushroom and onions across the top of the prosciutto.

Last, add the mozzarella cheese on top.

Cook according to the time on your Pizza Dough directions which usually is around 12-18 minutes at 425 degrees. Just keep an eye on it to make sure the cheese is cooked as much as you want and the bottom of the pizza gets crispy.

That’s it, your all done and ready to eat. Just as fast as the pizza delivery guy! So you save time and money plus it will taste so much better. Hope you enjoy your pizza!!
