How to Play Minute to Win It Games
To play the 60-second game, players are given a series of challenges that they need to complete in 1 minute. You can play these games in large groups or small groups as school games.
Decide on Teams or Individuals
First, decide if players will compete as a group or individually. This really depends on how many people you have playing the game.
If you decide to have groups, you will now pick who is on each team. Sometimes it’s easier to assign the groups ahead of time so there is no fighting, and teachers can make the teams even.
Decide Which Games to Play & Supplies
Decide which games you want to play and make sure you have all the supplies ready. Supplies are listed with the games below.

Competitive Or Not
Now, determine if you want it to be a competitive game or a friendly game. Players can simply try to beat the 1-minute timer or play to beat the other teams.
If you choose to be competitive, make sure you have a chart to write down each player or team’s times. This will help you keep track of who won each game.
How to Win
The team member who completes the Minute to Win It challenges in 1 minute wins the game. If you are playing on teams or competitively, and two or more players complete the challenge, then the fastest player wins.

Minute to Win It Game Ideas
Here are our favorite Classroom Minute to Win it Games and the game's instructions. If you do not want food in the classroom, I will give you an alternative to use for most challenges.
1. Cup Stacking
Supplies You'll Need – 42 Solo Cups
How to Play – First, split cups into two groups (21 each) and have two children compete against each other. Kids have one minute to unstack the cups and create a pyramid, then restack the cups back into each other.
Use the timer on your phone for this and write down the time as they finish. When all the kids are done, look at the times to find a winner. Just add more cups if you want to have more than two kids compete.
Tip: When stacking cups up, don’t press them tightly together or they can be hard to get apart.
2. Junk in the Trunk
Supplies You'll Need – One empty tissue box per player, a bag of ping pong balls, and a thin belt or long ribbon
How to Play – This is the most popular Minute to Win It game because it’s so funny to watch. To get ready, take a tissue box and cut a slit on each side to slide your belt or ribbon through to tie the box around a player’s waist. Then add in 10 ping pong balls.
When the timer starts, players shake and jump around to try and get the highest number of ping pong balls out of their box. It’s hilarious to watch.

3. Penny Stack
Supplies You'll Need – Pennies or flat bingo chips that you have in the classroom
How to Play – Give each player a large stack of pennies. They then have one minute to pile the pennies on top of each other to create the highest stack of coins. The winner is the first to stack all their coins or create the tallest tower.
Tip: Adjust this for age by giving a smaller amount of pennies to younger kids and a larger amount to high school-aged kids.
4. Cookie Face
Supplies You'll Need – Oreo Cookies or Nila Wafer Cookies
How to Play – Players place the cookie on their forehead and their hands behind their backs. They have one minute to try and get the cookie into their mouth without using their hands.
Tip: Kids will love if the Teacher tries the 60-second games too!
5. Suck It Up
Supplies You'll Need: Straws, paper plates, and a type of these - Jelly Beans, M&Ms, Skittles, Pom Poms (if you don't want food in the classroom)
How to Play: Give each player a plate filled with Skittles, an empty plate, and a straw.
Players have 1 minute to use the straw to suck up the candy and drop them onto the empty plate. The player with the most Skittles moved to the empty plate wins.
6. Feather Float
Supplies You'll Need - Feathers
How to Play: Players are each given a feather and have to keep it up in the air for 1 minute without using their hands.
7. You've Got Me Puzzled
Supplies You'll Need – Any cereal boxes, but one with more characters on the front makes it more fun.
How to Play – To make the cereal puzzles, cut up cereal boxes into puzzle pieces. The players will have one minute to put the puzzle pieces into the right positions to win.
Tip: If younger kids are playing, make the puzzle pieces bigger; for older players, make them smaller to be more challenging.
8. Stick It To You
Supplies You'll Need - Sticky Notes
How to Play - Players will need to team up for this one-minute challenge. One player will be given a stack of sticky notes and will stick them all over their partner. Then they need to remove all the sticky notes before the one-minute time limit.
Tip: Give a smaller number of sticky notes to younger kids - 15, and a larger number to older kids - 40
9. Mummy Wrap
Supplies You'll Need - Rolls of Streamers or toilet paper
How to Play – This is a team game. Each team picks one teammate who will be wrapped with streamers. The team then has 1 minute to wrap their teammate in a roll of streamers. The first team to fully wrap their teammate is the winning team.
10. Thread the Rainbow
Supplies You'll Need – Fruit Loops cereal, a pipe cleaner for each player (if you don't want to use food in the classroom, try this with beads)
How to Play – Give each player a stack of Fruit Loops and a pipe cleaner. Players will string their Fruit Loops onto the pipe cleaner. The player with the most Fruit Loops strung onto the pipe cleaner at the end of one minute wins.
Tip: Check the Dollar Store for generic Fruit Loops cereal to save money.
11. Gold Digger
Supplies You'll Need – Plastic gold coins (or any flat chips), a blindfold, and Easter grass or crinkled cut paper used for gifts
How to Play – Players are each given a bucket filled with crinkle-cut paper with gold coins mixed inside. Players will place a blindfold across their eyes and have one minute to search and pull out as many gold coins as they can find.
12. Marble Roll
Supplies You'll Need: Marbles, straws, & painters’ tape
How to Play: On a table, create a finish line with the painter’s tape. Spread marbles on each side of the table so two players can compete at the same time.
Players have 1 minute to use their straw to blow as many marbles over the tape line as they can before time is up. The player with the most marbles over the line wins.
Tip: Adjust this for holidays by changing the marble to Jelly Beans for Easter, Candy Corn for Halloween, or Cotton Balls for a Winter party.
13. Chopstick Pick Up
Supplies You'll Need – A pair of chopsticks for each player, two paper plates for each team, and a bag of candy, miniature marshmallows, or pom poms.
How to Play – Give each team two plates with 20 pieces of candy or pom poms on one plate. Have the players move each piece of candy to the other plate using chopsticks in under a minute.
Tip: It is easier for younger kids to pick up squishy marshmallows than hard M&Ms with chopsticks. Create cheater chopsticks for younger kids by rolling the wrapper between two sticks and wrapping it with rubber bands.
14. Dice Stack
Supplies You'll Need - Dice and chopsticks
How to Play: Each player will be given 6-8 Dice and chopsticks. Students will stack as many dice as they can using the chopsticks without them falling. The player with the highest stack of dice wins.
Tip: Lower the amount of dice needed to stack for younger kids to 3 & use cheater chopsticks.
15. Balloon Push
Supplies You'll Need – 1 balloon per player and 1 ping pong ball per team, painter's tape
How to Play – Each player blows up their own balloon. Then they line up at a table or along a hard surface floor with a ping pong ball in front of them. At the other end of the table, create a finish line with painter's tape.
Players blow up their balloon and release the air from the balloon to move their ping pong ball. See who can make the ping pong ball go the furthest or cross the finish line first in one minute.
Tip: This one involves some strategy, and they might want to try it a second time when they get the hang of it.
16. Cup & Roll
Supplies – Ping pong balls, plastic cups, and painter's tape
How to Play – On a long table or desk, tape 2-5 plastic cups to hang off the edge of the table for each player. The goal of the game is to roll the ping pong balls across the table and into the hanging cup. Whichever player has the most ping pong balls in their cups at the end of a minute wins.
Tip: If you have limited space, use a different colored cup for each player and just tape one cup for each player to the end of a table. The player will then aim for their own plastic cups.
17. Tweezer Pick up
Supplies You'll Need– Skittles or Pom Poms, tweezers, two bowls per player
How to Play – Each player is given a bowl full of Skittles or Pom Poms, tweezers, and an empty bowl. They then have 1 minute to move as many Skittles with the tweezers over to the empty bowl as they can before the timer goes off. The player with the most Skittles moved to the empty bowl wins.
18. Egg Bounce
Supplies You'll Need: Egg Cartons, Ping Pong Balls
How to Play: Across from each player on a table, set out an open egg carton. Players have 1 minute to try and bounce a ping pong ball into the egg carton. The player with the most ping pong balls in the egg carton wins.
19. Keep It Up Balloon
Supplies You'll Need – Two Balloons Per Team
How to Play – Players keep one hand behind their back and try to keep two balloons up in the air for one minute.
Tip: Adjust how difficult this game is by adding or taking away balloons.
20. Water Bottle Shake
Supplies You'll Need: Empty water bottles, jelly beans & strong tape
How to Play: Players are each given 2 empty water bottles and a bag full of jelly beans. Players need to fill 1 water bottle with jelly beans & then tape the empty water bottle to the top of the filled water bottle. Lastly, they need to shake all the jelly beans into the empty water bottle.
Tip: This is a better game for 5th graders and up, as it's a little more difficult challenge.
21. Pasta Stack
Supplies You'll Need - Penne Pasta, yarn or string
How to Play - Give each player a long piece of string and a pile of penne pasta noodles. They have one minute to string as many pasta noodles as they can before the time is up.
22. Noodle Pick Up
Supplies You'll Need – Uncooked spaghetti pieces and uncooked penne pasta noodles.
How to Play – Place uncooked penne pasta noodles on the edge of a table. Players try to pick up the penne noodles using a spaghetti piece they have in their mouth. See who can pick up the most in one minute.
Tip: I suggest a spaghetti piece for each person as these are in your mouth. The penne noodles can be used over again. To make it harder, increase the number of noodles they need to pick up.
23. Class Relay Race
Supplies You'll Need - Wooden spoon, ping pong balls
How to Play - Go out into a hallway where you have more space for the relay race. Set up a starting line and a chair a short distance away to walk around.
Next, break kids up into small teams of 2-3. Give each team a wooden spoon and a ping pong ball.
The first player will place the ping pong ball on the wooden spoon and, without dropping it, will walk around the chair and back. They will then pass the spoon to their next teammate to do the same. The first team to get through all the players in under 1 minute wins.
24. Snowman Stack Winter Party Idea
Supplies You'll Need– Bag of Marshmallows, Chopsticks
How to Play – Players must stack 3 marshmallows in under 1 minute. They use chopsticks to build up their snowman.
Tip: Make it easier or harder based on the player’s age. Younger kids can use oversized marshmallows, and older players can use mini-marshmallows. If you have a mixed age group, use the regular-sized marshmallows.
25. Separate the Rainbow
Supplies You'll Need - Skittles, Pom Poms, or small items of different colors you have in the classroom, a bowl or plate for each color
How to Play - Give each player a bowl for each of the color options and a pile of Skittles. The players have one minute to separate the Skittles by color into each bowl. The first player to separate all the colors in under 1 minute wins, or the player who separates the most skittles.
26. Money Flip
Supplies You'll Need - Spatulas, Paper Money or construction paper in the shape of money, bins, and blindfolds
How to Play - Players will be in table groups, with one of the students wearing a blindfold. The player with the blindfold has 60 seconds to scoop up with the spatula as much money as they can and flip it into a bin.
Their teammates can guide them by giving verbal directions. The winning table will have the most money in the bin after 60 seconds.
